THE SECTION 8 WAIT LIST IS CLOSED

The Berkeley Housing Authority is not accepting applications at this time.

We successfully completed the Pre-Application for Housing Choice Voucher wait list random draw July 19th through July 26th, 2022.  During this 7-day period, over 22,000 applications were received. This speaks to the tremendous demand for rental assistance for low-income families in the Bay Area. Because of the high demand for rental assistance, a random draw of all potentially eligible applications was conducted and only 2,000 names were placed on the Wait List.

Please remember that your application for this waitlist did not guarantee a spot on the list.  Applicants not selected in the random lottery will not move forward in the process.

Letters will be mailed to those that were selected in the random draw.

If you need to update your contact information, and your application was selected in the lottery, you must register on the following portal that will allow access to update your information.  Only those applicants who were selected in the random draw will be able to register by clicking on the following link:

Login - My Housing

If your application was not selected in the lottery you do not need to report the correction.

Local non-profit developers have various units set aside for low income qualifying families and individuals.  You may want to contact them to see if there are any waitlists at any of their properties.  Click on the following links for information on affordable housing.
